Boot Camp Marketing – Owner Interview – Part 1 of 4

Hey now! This is Fernando Bonato, Head Business Strategy Coach at Fit Body Boot Camp. In this post I'll share with you a great interview I did with Shawna Kaminski from Calgary, Canada. Shawna owns two Fit Body Boot Camp Locations in Calgary and is sharing a lot of great information on Boot Camp Marketing amongst other topics. Since the interview is full of great content I'm breaking it up for you in 4 parts.

Fernando:
Hi all! This is Fernando Bonato, head coach here at FBBC and today I have Shawna Kaminski on the phone, and I decided to ask her to share a few of the methods she uses to achieve the great things that she's been able to accomplish since joining the FBBC family. Shawna owns two Fit Body Boot Camp locations in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. So hi Shawna, thanks for taking the call.

Shawna:
Hey Fernando. Good talking to you.

Fernando:
Great. Thank you. So the first question is, just so everybody can have a little bit of a background, how long have you been in the FBBC family?

Shawna:
Well, I originally had a boot camp started and I was being coached by Bedros prior to my coming Fit Body Boot Camp. So then I officially became a Fit Body Boot Camp in the fall of 2010, it was October or November of 2010.Fernando:
A couple of years now then.

Shawna:
Yes.

Fernando:
And how long did it take you to open your second location?

Shawna:
Well it took me too long and that was my own fault. I could have started long before, like I should have opened that second location long before I did. But I was just spread a little thin because I also do info products and work. So I think I probably could have opened that second location much sooner but we didn't open it until the fall of 2011 and I actually opened it with a business partner. And so part of it was just finding the right person that I wanted to do that with. But like I said, had I not had two other businesses, information businesses, it could be done much sooner than that.

Fernando:
And since you already had a training facility, a fitness business, what attracted you to bring the FBBC flag to your business? Why did you make the change?

Shawna:
Well there are a couple of reasons. Like I said, I'd been coaching with Bedros since about 2008 and I just was sold on all of his systems and done-for-you. He just is an amazing business coach, and just through coaching with him I just had come to realize all the benefits of FBBC because he would allude to them when he was coaching me. Then I realized... you know what... I really need to be a Fit Body Boot Camp to get the full-on support that the whole Fit body Boot Camp team can provide, the powerful Boot Camp Marketing, etc... I think that is one of the strongest things... the Fit Body Boot camp is just amazing support... you not only get from Bedros and you and the headquarters, but from the whole FBBC community. Because most people feel a little bit like an island doing their own thing in their own location, but I never feel like an island because if I ever have a question I can always reach out to my good friends that are basically all over the world in Fit Body Boot Camp and so just the amazing support and team atmosphere of Fit Body Boot Camp. That is what I love. Aside from there are so many... every week it seems like they're turning out more and more things that Fit Body Boot Camp is doing for us... like in terms of SEO and the new web special and okay here we've got the continuous client getter, and here is the done-for-you email series for the next promotion, I can't even keep up with all the stuff you guys are doing for us. It's exponential in the last couple of months. I didn’t even know that going in. I just valued the community and coaching I was going to get and now it's just so much more.

Fernando:
Cool. Thank you for the compliment!

Shawna:
Yes, it's awesome.

Fernando:
Can you tell us a little bit more about... how is your location doing for you regarding how many clients do you have, how long did it take you to reach a certain landmark if you don't mind sharing more or less how much... financially how much is it bringing to you? Just a little overview of each one of your locations.

Shawna:
Well the first location that I have, at Calgary North Fit Body Boot Camp, I have just over 100 clients a month, in a monthly program. I think I only have one of those clients that's paying month to month. Probably about 10 of those I haven't yet converted to a membership. And so I'm probably bringing about between $15,000 and $18,000 a month for that one location. And then my second location I share with Krista and that is Calgary North Fit Body Boot Camp. It's pretty exciting that you can start a business... we started in September… we were making money right from the beginning. We were probably making about $5,000 to $7,000 a month with that location. I think the last count was just over 40 members. So that's pretty exciting, especially for people that are looking into Fit Body Boot Camp to know that within a few months you're making $5,000 to $7,000 a month. We have expenses coming out of that but we've never lost money, even in one month. We're always on the money-making end, so that's pretty exciting.
