So after my last post of "Octavia Hires A Trainer" part 1, where I showed a video of one of my VIP coaching clients conducting trainer interviews, I had a lot of questions like:

•    How much do I pay my trainers?
•    How do I motivate my trainers to get referrals?
•    How do I get my trainers to help with client retention?
•    When is the right time to hire a trainer?
•    How do I get another trainer to take my place without pissing off my existing clients?

So I made this video for you where I show you step-by-step how to easily do ALL of this.

    I love it broseph! Hey quick question, I am doing that but just at alot quicker speed. My new trainer took his first day last friday, now he is taking this week by himself. I am going to come back friday and announce that im opening up a new bootcamp. It seems to be going smooth, think its to soon?

    Just had my first day phasing in my trainer! It actually went really cool! Thanks man! Awesome post =)
    BTW, i am pretty sure i wont be the only one with this question, when you say trainer's sales, i got kinda confused, aren't our trainers not supposed to be good at selling and marketing? since we dont want em to be good at the biz growth stuff right?

    Awesome job Octavio... When you're not at the boot camp, the trainer may need to "sell" new peeps... The main thing I WOULDN'T have a trainer do is market... If a trainer is good at boot camp marketing then it's just a matter of time till they go off on their own.

    Hey Adam, some situations are different than others... The schedule above is what I found to be the best amount of time to both make sure the trainer is solid and also allow my boot camp members to feel comfortable with the new trainer... There's always exception though...

    Now... how does that apply to bootcamp staff?
    Same pay?
    I have 3 staff that show up to train 45 members in our morning group while I'm at location 2.
    1 staff designs the program and leads the session, the other 2 assist.

    Thanks Steve, awesome post. I have a quick follow up question to your repsonse to Octavio. Don't we not want the trainers to know the prices that were selling the boot camp for like you mentioned in the video? Cause if they see that 10 new clients joined at $200 a pop then won't that make them think "wait a minute here..."?

    Hi Steve...thanks for the awesome video! We're trying to open up our 4th location and this will be great for hiring our new trainer. Currently we're paying our trainers per session and then we pay them a monthly 5% commission based on their members dues. I like your bonus system much better, we'll definitely be implementing that with our new trainers. Amazing content as always...thank you!

    Great video Steve! I actually do something very similar and phase out in about half the time with GREAT success.

    1) My question is what do you do for locations with multiple trainers and their scaling bonuses?

    I have 7 trainers and how I've been doing it is paying them per class $15-$25 (depending on their experience) and $25-$50 in commissions for anyone they get to join. So if they get a lot to join then they can make a pretty nice pay check.

    2) I feel that me putting the commissions at the $50 rate for some of them is pretty high when I run my payroll. So I've been thinking of a way to break to them that I want to lower everyone to $25 or even less if possible. What do you feel is the best way to go about this?

    3) I want to have commissions for each sign up, but also was thinking of the bonus tiers like you use as well.

    What are your thoughts on all those points? Thanks Steve! 🙂

    Hey Bob, it's tuff once you've conditioned a trainer to make a certain commission to then lower it if they are still performing up to par. SO instead of lowering their commission, I would switch to the new pay schedule (the one I talked about)... If you run the numbers, it should be close to what thy were making before but with more potential... Aaaand if you want to add another incentive, give them 20-30 percent of the monthly EFT of anyone that they refer.

    Hey Tyron, ya they will not know the revenue, they will just know that you got 10 new net members... They are going to know when new people join anyways, so you might as well use it as an incentive.

    Is the $100 per 10 client bonus a monthly bonus? or is it $100 per 10 clients every two weeks?

    Hey Octavio, every time you reach a new "10" like 20, 30, 40 etc, the trainer gets a bonus and a $1 per hour pay raise as long as they maintain it and don't go below that number.

    Hey Steve, thanks for that info. I just opened a small training center in San Leandro CA and I'm definitely looking to get a trainer to take over my boot camps at least 3x/wk. Just wanted to know how much do you pay the trainer throughout the transition period? Thanks.

    Maybe I'm a little behind the curve on this one, but what's the best way to FIND a trainer?

    I have one trainer now who's gone in a few days. I've used the same tactic I used to nab this one (craigslist), but I'm not getting ANY responses.

    Also have a notice (with some killer graphic design) posted at the facilities I use, with trainers I know work more than me and make way less, still nothing.

    Is there something that could help me out here, or do I need to change deodorant?
